Artists Retreat The Artist’s Retreat Cottage is situated on 25 pastoral acres along Owl Creek, just two miles from Nashville. This particular valley has been a favored setting for many a landscape artist through the years, and some believe well-known artist, L.O. Griffith, may have captured this spot in his painting “Owl Creek Farm”. Whether you bring along your own canvas and brushes, your quilting or scrap-booking supplies, or just some steaks and a bottle of wine, this light-filled cottage will inspire the artist in you! The Artist’s Retreat Cottage is nestled under some big ‘ol sycamore and maple trees, and the expansive lawn runs right down to the creek… the perfect place for wading and minnow watching. When did you last pick blackberries, hunt mushrooms, or gather walnuts, hickory nuts, and buckeyes? Search our forest and field for a different type of souvenir. Challenge your partner to a hot game of horseshoes, then enjoy star-gazing and wiener-roasting round the campfire. Here, your “noisy neighbors” will be the horses and cattle in pastures across the road. A soak in the hot tub sounds inviting, doesn’t it? Come see what country living is really like here in Brown County. This quaint cottage’s bedroom features a queen bed decked out in pretty linens. There is 1 bath and a kitchen that allows creative cooks to play house with the full-size range, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, and mixer. There’s even a blender for making milkshakes or making your way to Margaritaville. Relax with morning coffee by the window at the dining table. In the living room there is a cute desk near the gas-log fireplace that provides a spot for checking e-mail or penning those “wish-you-were-here-postcards”. Check on the office via our DSL high-speed internet connection, catch the game or race on satellite TV; watch a DVD, or dance a jig to your favorite CD. The driveway to this cabin crosses a small creek. It is never impassable, but if you have a sports car and an SUV, we suggest the SUV. The owner of this cabin will grocery shop for you, make dinner reservations, make tee times, pre-purchase local concert and theatre tickets - just let us know how we can make your stay all that you want it to be. **By Special Arrangement with the owners, the Barn is available for parties and receptions. Our 78-year old barn is a dandy place for a country wedding, birthday party, or family reunion. The property owners will gladly assist with producing your special event.
