Boulders # 1 rates: $175 $185 $185 $200
We invite you to come and enjoy peace and quiet and the history and adventure of southern Indiana. As you first step into this authentic log cabin built in 1911 by William Charters, you will be taken back to a time when this cabin housed weekend guests during prohibition. Take a walk down the original stone steps leading to the Illinois Central Railroad tracks where guests to this house departed back to the city on old #97 after a long weekend in beautiful Brown County Indiana. This old (speakeasy) cabin is Boulders # 1. This log cabin is constructed of poplar logs with a covered porch with a hot tub , that stretches the 40 foot length of the cabin. Speak Easy features two lofts (with one queen-size bed in each) overlooking the greatroom and huge Brown County Stone gas fireplace. There is a futon in the greatroom. This cabin has a full bath and kitchen. There is a pool table in this unit. It can accommodate 2-6 people. The Cabin and the Cottage may be opened up to accommodate 6-12 people. The two units, together, are called Boulders Lodge. When rented together, the Lodge becomes a 4 BR, 2 BA home with 2 kitchens, 2 fireplaces & 2 grills and a hot tub.
In Spring, hundreds of daffodils, dogwood and redbud trees are in full bloom (you can smell them in the air). In Summer, enjoy Brown County State Park, 15,000 acres, Indiana's largest. In Fall, the hickory, maple and oaks are in magnificent color. Winter offers hiking in the woods and curling up by the fire with a good book. You are near the little village of Helmsburg, which features art, country crafts, eateries and antiques, and Brown County's largest (sock) manufacturer, For Bare Feet. You are also close to Bill Monroe Bluegrass Music Park. |
