Woodland Castle

Once upon a time in the land of Brown County, there sat a big house in the middle of an enchanted forest. The road leading to the house went over hills and through dales, over brooks and past brambles and berry patches, till it finally ended at this place called Woodland Castle. Travelers would pack their bags with enough food and clothing to keep themselves happy for the duration of their visit to this wondrous place.

As the people climbed out of their carriages, they would stop to admire the many flowers in the perennial gardens of Woodland Castle. Happy as little children were they, as young and old frolicked through the woods. Oftentimes, the people enjoyed evening campfires in the fire pit, or challenged each other in rousing pitching games like cornhole and horseshoes. When they were tired and sore from such outdoor entertainment, the visitors would often climb into the hot tub to soak away their cares and forget about their work and obligations left behind in their homeland. Birds, chipmunks, deer, and squirrels were their nearest neighbors while they were guests of Woodland Castle…and it was good.

This house was the kind of place that encouraged the visitors to play; one day being pirates or gypsies, the next day pretending to be traveling pool hall kings and queens as they won game after game of billiards or foosball. The command to “Eat, drink, and be merry” was easy to obey, since the Castle had an adequate kitchen with all the necessary appliances and utensils in stock.

When the moon came out and stars began twinkling overhead, the weary guests would claim their preferred sleeping spots…a queen-size bed for the King, a queen-size bed for the Queen, and a double-size bed for the young ones …or something like that. Each bedroom had access to its own private space to wash away the dust of a day well-played. The Queen was happy to find a washer and dryer in Woodland Castle, and the King was happy to find a remote to control the satellite TV/VCR/DVD, in much the same way he controlled them at home…and it was good.

Ahh, but all too soon each fairy tale must come to the “happily ever after” part, and travelers must pack up their belongings and drop off the keys for the next adventurers to come this way…and it is good.

The views are outstanding day and night. (For the safety of children, we ask that no one under the age of 16 is permitted on the top deck, due to the spiral staircase)
