In 1946, Agatha Roberts Reed moved to Brown County with her mystery writer husband, G. T. Fleming Roberts, the creator of the Secret Agent X series of the pulp magazines. Because of the resemblance of their home to that of the Hansel and Gretel house in an illustration in their small son's story book, Agatha and Tommy named their log home on State Road 135 the "Witch House." For years, Agatha entertained passersby with smoking dry ice on the patio and dressing up as a witch, thus becoming known as the "Witch of Beanblossom Ridge." Agatha moved to the "Little Nashville Getaway," which she decorated with furnishings from the Witch House. These display her eclectic taste for bright colors and contrasting patterns and include some "witchy" touches.
